I am by no means an expert on Chicago Film (or anything else, for that matter), but rather a devoted enthusiast who wishes to convey that love to others in an entertaining fashion. I apologize in advance for any and all errors. Feel free to point them out to me in the comments section (or via email) and I will make all appropriate corrections and/or apologies. PLEASEjust don’t be an ass about it.

Also, feel free to share your opinions, insights, expertise, incantations, etc. on whatever I may write about on this blog or any comments left by others. Againjust don’t be an ass about it.

Although comments are enabled, they are moderated and I have no patience for insults, pomposity, pointless nitpicking, or general snottiness towards myself or other posters. There is already enough of that in the “blahblahsphere” in general and the film world in particular.

Not that I don’t enjoy the occasional snarkyness and bitchy sarcasm (far from it, as you can probably tell); but I’m not going to participate in or preside over a series of cyber pissing matches (as many blogs do), nor will I have any lenience for those who feel themselves the final word on everything and must belittle anyone who dares to disagree with their opinions. Trolls of any sort will not be tolerated, and will be dealt with harshly. Spammers will be shot on sight.

This isn’t one of those “everything totally free and open no matter how annoying people get” kind of blogs (if you want that, go to Craigslist “Rants and Raves” or any of the billion other “free speech zones” on the net). This is all a very roundabout way of saying that this is my sandbox and I’ll bounce anyone who doesn’t want to play nice. I don’t think it will come to that very often (if at all), I’m just saying this right off the bat so there are no surprises.

So please, comment away.

Just keep in mind that film appreciation is not a science and almost all opinions on the subject (outside of technical issues) are subjective. So try not to go ballistic if someone hates your most favorite film ever or loves something that you feel to be an absolute piece of Yak scat. I’m as bad of an offender in that sense as anyone, so I have to try my best to avoid being “that way” myself.

I invite you to please join me (and whomever else wants to join the party) in a discussion of this great city and its fabulous films (and what ever else arises). Just don’t be an ass about it.

And I’ll try as well.
